Hey guys! Once again, I'm so sorry for not posting in a while! Lately, as the summer sun has started to give us hotter and brighter days, there has been so many adventures to have and beaches to visit. Now, I'm more of a summer person myself, (although I do like to rug up in layers of blankets and jumpers) so when the spring and summer holidays arrive I tend to go crazy with adventures and beaches to visit.
One of my favourite adventures so far has been my 'Avalon Adventure' (hence the title) when I stayed with family and friends in an amazing house next to Whale beach near Avalon for a couple of days. Each day was filled with swimming in the pool that looks over the ocean, getting dumped by waves on the beach, exploring the rocks, getting stung by blue bottles, waking up early to watch the sunrise, walking down the street for milkshakes and lunch on the beach, playing board games at night and going for a spectacular lighthouse walk in the afternoon. Amongst the beauty and 'struggles' on the trip, it was so much fun and was such an awesome way to live out the 30 degree days!!
For the first few days it was awesome to explore the house and the town and to swim in the pool and the beach. The house had a beautiful view of the ocean and was situated on a hill on the right of Whale Beach. The rooms were decorated with shells and patterned tapestry and the balconies had white chairs that were perfect to sit on for a view of the ocean. There was an outside area with a hammock that swung beneath palm trees and greenery and was a perfect way to relax and rest. There were stores all over Avalon and Whale Beach to explore and enjoy, including a market on Sunday !
Although swimming in the pool and ducking under waves was a major highlight of the trip, the best part was the lighthouse walk. A truely magical adventure that allowed us to view the entirety of palm beach ! When we went on the walk in the afternoon, it was super windy, which meant that by the time we reached the top, we had sand flying into our eyes and piercing our skin. Although, after a while, the wind calmed down and we were able to experience the beauty of our world. Watching the vast ocean that stretched across the horizon, the white waves that crashed on the jagged rocks below, the faded trees and bushes that swayed from the breeze and the wind that brushed across our faces was calming and beautiful and created the perfect afternoon.
I know that life is busy and tiring and can leave us with no time, money or energy to do any adventures like this. I love summer because it gives me the chance to have these adventures and enjoy them. I find myself relaxing more and more and focussing less on the stresses at home. Sometimes it helps so much to have a break and just chill out, so even something as simple as going to the beach or park with friends can be the best way to do that! I hope this has given you guys inspiration for any places you want to visit or adventures you want to have and I promise more groovy places and activities will be coming your way!
Have an awesome week!
I know it's a bit late but... NEW YEAR, NEW LAYOUT! From now on the layout will be different, there will be a new section and so many more 'add ons' and exciting things to see on the blog! Hope you enjoy and have a Happy New Year!
As i've moved around and explored these holidays i've noticed the clothes most teens have been wearing and i've started to see a pattern. It used to be tight midriff tops with leggings or jeggings and converse and really it has only slightly changed but mostly due to everyone getting older. There is the outfit i mentioned above and then there is the outfit that consists of short shorts with an oversized top and jumper with Nike or Adidas shoes.
Now, i'm not trying to say that this kind of clothing is bad, to be honest, Adidas is a really great, popular and trending brand at the moment and has some great items, yet its the way people wear the clothing and the popularity of it that makes it a 'typical teen outfit'. This type of clothing has become something that girls wear when they want to 'fit in' or look like 'one of those people' (if you know what i mean).
Twice these holidays i have had people come up to me with the same opinion. When i was out at lunch with a friend she told me this, "This is what my mum said: 'All girls your age look the same. I've worked it out. They either have straight blonde or brown hair, wear a black or white singlet top, really short shorts or tight skirts and converse trainers.' And i just said, 'Yep that's about right.'"
All girls these days wear the same thing!
The thing is, although there is this kind of expectation or way to dress for teens these days, we really don't have to listen to it, although that's easier said then done. The fact that there are stores all around us telling us what we should buy and how we should look doesn't really help us when we're trying to invent our own style. You just need to know the right stores to go to depending on what type of style you want. For example, i have a friend who has the craziest, out if this world style which would look absolutely weird on anyone, except her. She says she shops at markets and second hand shops in Newtown to get most of her clothing but on top of that she just shops wherever to get her basics and then combines them in her own way. It works for her, why couldn't it work for someone else?
Below are three types of styles and shops that you could go to for that kind of style:
I know it's a long post so i'll just sum it up here. What you wear doesn't determine if you're cool or rich, it gives you a chance to express yourself if you want to. It lets you stand out and wear things that work for you, not everyone around you. Wear your own clothes. Start your own trend.
Sorry if it got really deep and inspirational for a sec! Have an amazing week :)
Hey everyone! I'm very sorry to have not written in a while. I was walking home from school the other day and saw some writing in the sky. It said 'TREND'. When i saw that it immediately made me think how popular the word trend is getting lately. It's seen in stores and on the sides of buses to the point where it has become so prevalent that we've began to ignore it and just think of it as another part of our everyday lives.
So what's the big deal with 'trends?' Trends (from a fashion point of view) are the most popular or new-in items of clothing or accessories or even in how you wear your hair. Usually once one famous person starts to wear something and everyone else copies, it becomes a trend. But the thing about trends is that everyone tends to follow them which means you're not alone. That's great, but if you really want to stand out and make a statement you have to know which trends you want to follow. There's never only one trend going on at once.
If you're ever feeling stuck for ideas or that you have no idea what your style is, just check in with the trends. It doesn't matter if other people are wearing the same shoes or similar clothing to you, what matters is how you choose to wear it and personalise it so that it's unique to you.
Have a nice week :)
